Principal Jennifer Murray spoke on several important topics at the principal coffee. She immediately followed her presentation with an overview of special education services at Baldwin. STAFF Ken Barrett - SCORES Jane Nogin - SCORES Hannah Wingate - SCORES Janet Hansen - Resource Gloria Roberst - Resource Hollie Collins - PPCD Jessica Ramsey - PPCD Beth Bernhard - Speech Julie Novack - Speech PROGRAMS Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) 8 students : 1 teacher 3, 4, 5 year olds A general education classroom including typical children and those who may have delays or disabilities. A language-rich environment for those with delayed speech, for example. Not all children with a disability receive support in the classroom, as it depends on the child’s needs. And individualized education plan (IEP) is created outlining specific services. Early intervention is key. AISD will evaluate any child who is believed to be delayed or who may have special needs to determine qualification for PPCD. Click here for information. Resource When a child is significantly behind in a subject, he or she is pulled out of the classroom for additional work with a specialist. Speech If speech affects academic performance, or has a language disability, a student will receive services. SCORES 22 students: 1 teacher Social Communication Resources and Services. A program primarily for children with Autism that employees a curriculum to teach social skills. One example is “Lunch Bunch” where small groups meet in a classroom for lunch to work on social skills in a less overwhelming or overstimulating environment. Students in SCORES are in a general education classroom and may or may not receive services in the classroom, and may be pulled out for additional work. An individualized education plan (IEP) is created for each student outlining these services. 504 Program offered to students who don't qualify for special education, i.e., dyslexia, ADHD, and more. SBS Social Behavioral Skills Not a program offered at Baldwin. This program is for students with serious behavior struggles. Life Skills Not a program offered at Baldwin. This program is for students with severe needs and disabilities.
