Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD)
8 students : 1 teacher
3, 4, 5 year olds
A general education classroom including typical children and those who may have delays or disabilities. A language-rich environment for those with delayed speech, for example. Not all children with a disability receive support in the classroom, as it depends on the child’s needs. And individualized education plan (IEP) is created outlining specific services.
Early intervention is key. AISD will evaluate any child who is believed to be delayed or who may have special needs to determine qualification for PPCD. Click here for information.
When a child is significantly behind in a subject, he or she is pulled out of the classroom for additional work with a specialist.
If speech affects academic performance, or has a language disability, a student will receive services.
22 students: 1 teacher
Social Communication Resources and Services. A program primarily for children with Autism that employees a curriculum to teach social skills. One example is “Lunch Bunch” where small groups meet in a classroom for lunch to work on social skills in a less overwhelming or overstimulating environment. Students in SCORES are in a general education classroom and may or may not receive services in the classroom, and may be pulled out for additional work. An individualized education plan (IEP) is created for each student outlining these services.
Program offered to students who don't qualify for special education, i.e., dyslexia, ADHD, and more.
